COVID-19 Testing Information & Locations

Coronavirus Testing Information & Locations
Penn Medicine currently has two drive-thru testing sites accessible to anyone who is experiencing coronavirus-like symptoms. You do not need to be a Penn Medicine patient to be tested. No co-pays or deductibles will be charged for testing, and uninsured patients will be able to be tested for free.

If you are a Penn Medicine patient and are concerned about possible symptoms of the virus, we recommend that you contact your healthcare provider, who will provide more information about the test sites and can refer you to be tested. The referrals are sent electronically through Penn’s electronic medical records platform, so no paperwork is exchanged on-site. Please note: You do not need a referral from a provider to be tested.

If you are not a patient and are experiencing symptoms, we encourage you to call our toll-free coronavirus hotline at 833-983-1350. All non-Penn community patients can be screened at our testing sites. You should go to the site during operating hours, where you’ll be screened on a case-by-case basis and given instructions on how to register in the Penn system.

Once your referrals are checked or you’re registered in the Penn system, you’ll speak with a physician or nurse – each of whom is fully clothed in CDC-recommended protective gear – who will ask you about your symptoms. If you match the CDC testing criteria, you’ll get swabbed, and your samples will be sent to a lab for testing.

Getting COVID-19 Test Results
The sample is sent either to a commercial laboratory for COVID-19 testing or to a lab at the University of Pennsylvania. After your visit, you will automatically receive a text with instructions on how to obtain your results. Patients who test positive for COVID-19 will receive a phone call with guidelines for self-quarantine.

If you have any questions or need more information, please call your doctor or care team.
